Luree & Tracy
A blog dedicated to aspiring authors and the journey 'On the Road to Publication'.
Entry for January 2, 2008

Well... we had to live through yesterday with no mail delivery.  It was hideous, so we worked extra hard on the web and blog sites.  Luree does most of the techno stuff because I hate it.  I started pulling our two stories together for Bitchin' and we have the first 50 pages ready for an Agent or Editor to see.  I also firmed up my part of the ending and managed to cry and sling snot during the entire ordeal.  Ahh, life.

Today, we started listening for the mailman by 11:30.  It's more like 2:00 when he gets here.  But we did actually go for a walk as punishment for our imaptience.  I am trying to slowly increase my stamina after being so ill this past year.

We heard the mail man drive up behind as and calmly turned back toward the house.  I tried to hurry, but was gasping for breath and Luree tried to guilt me into slowing down to live another day.

We finally got to the box and peered inside.

NOTHING FROM NEW YORK!

Damn.  Now another 24 hours of agony til we hear the red jeep's engine coming down the road in a cloud of desert dust.

We did launch our new website and blog and sent invites to family and friends to log on and look us over.

Here we are everybody!  Thanks again for your love and support.

I have been a member of AZ Authors for only a few months and although I don't attend very many of the events, I get a great deal of information and often rejuvenation from reading various tips and articles from heir website.

I have to laugh at your comments about waiting daily for the mail to come. We're all in that boat at various points at one time or another.

I have been fortunate to have my first book published in 2007, The Charon Covenant, a science fiction book. Let me warn you, once published you will now have a constant source of frustration. Instead of once a day mailbox trips, you will be on-line constantly checking for reviews or ratings.

And as for time to write. Once you're published a tremendous amount of your time will go to the publicity, daily blogging everywhere, short story postings and soooo much more I never suspected.

I work full time in bookstores that I own and put it nearly forty hours a week, plus PR.

I hope come February to gleefully jog (o.k. drive down) to my mailbox to find a big fat royalty check, fingers crossed.

Good luck to both of you.
